John Moores Painting Prize

Holman shows In Every Dream Home A Heartache 1 in the John Moores Painting Prize, selected from open submission and hung at the Walker Art Gallery.

First held in 1957 and named after its founding sponsor Sir John Moores, the prize is open to any artist working with paint who lives or is professionally based in the UK, and is judged anonymously. It runs every two years, and past prizewinners include Peter Doig, Rose Wylie, David Hockney, Mary Martin and Sir Peter Blake — who won the junior section in 1961 with Self Portrait with Badges, and became the prize’s first patron fifty years later.
